Connor reid osteopath at heverhealth

Connor Reid graduated from the European School of Osteopathy with a Master’s degree in Osteopathy. Before completing his degree he had already accumulated more than five years of experience as a massage therapist and spent two years delivering hands-on osteopathic care in the university clinic, treating a wide range of presentations from straightforward to complex.

His path to osteopathy has a logic that makes him a particularly well-rounded clinician. After leaving school in 2016, Connor worked as a lifeguard in Sevenoaks before qualifying as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor. He went on to achieve Level 3 qualifications in Personal Training and Sports Massage, which led him into a full-time massage therapy role in 2020. It was during this period that he began to recognise the limits of soft tissue work alone and developed the ambition to understand the body at a deeper structural level. He began his degree in Osteopathy while continuing to practise as a massage therapist, a combination that gave him a clinical education grounded in the reality of patient care from the very beginning.

That background shows in the treatment room. Connor’s understanding of soft tissue function, body mechanics and movement is more detailed than most osteopaths his age. He does not treat structure and soft tissue as separate concerns. He considers them together, building personalised treatment plans designed to reduce pain, restore mobility and return each patient to the function they need.

Connor has a strong interest in sport, particularly rugby, and understands firsthand what athletic activity demands of the body and what it takes to recover properly from injury. He is well placed to support active patients at every level, from managing a first injury to returning to competitive sport after a significant setback.

Connor has written on the topics he encounters most frequently in his sports therapy and osteopathy practice. His articles on overuse injuries, returning to sport after injury and the five signs a sports injury needs professional assessment address the decisions active patients face most often. His piece on sports therapy for golfers is particularly relevant for members at Hever Castle Golf Club. He has also written on the distinction between sports massage and sports therapy for those trying to identify the right starting point.

Connor is available at Hever Health on Wednesdays.
