Specialised Bodywork at Hever Health

Specialised Bodywork at Hever Health

Some therapies do not fit neatly into standard categories. They require a particular depth of training, a specific technique and a sensitivity to the body that only comes with dedicated practice. Our specialised bodywork treatments bring together four distinct disciplines, each with its own therapeutic logic and its own way of restoring the body to ease.

These are not add-ons. They are serious treatments, delivered by specialists, producing results that a standard therapy session rarely achieves.

Aromatherapy and Hot Stone Massage

Warmth unlocks the body in a way that hands alone cannot always achieve. Our aromatherapy and hot stone sessions combine the deep, penetrating heat of basalt stones with the mood-elevating, physiologically active compounds of essential oils. The result is a treatment that works simultaneously on muscular tension, circulation, the nervous system and emotional state.

Aromatherapy and hot stone massage is for anyone who wants a treatment that goes deeper than a standard massage and leaves them feeling genuinely restored.

Body Stress Release

Body Stress Release is a gentle, non-invasive technique that uses precise, light pressure applied to specific reflex sites to communicate directly with the nervous system and encourage the release of deeply stored tension. It is not massage. It does not involve manipulation or forceful pressure.

Our BSR practitioner, Peter van Minnen, has been practising this technique for over 27 years, having trained at the Body Stress Release Academy in South Africa and qualified in 1992. Body stress release is particularly valuable for chronic pain, tension that has not responded to other treatments, and conditions with a significant stress-related component.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping uses controlled negative pressure to lift and separate the layers of soft tissue, improving local circulation, releasing myofascial restriction and accelerating the removal of metabolic waste from fatigued or injured muscle. It has a long history of traditional use and a growing body of evidence supporting its effectiveness in a clinical context.

Cupping therapy works well alongside massage and sports therapy and is particularly effective for stubborn muscular tension and sports recovery.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system is fundamental to immune function, fluid balance and the removal of cellular waste. Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) uses gentle, rhythmic techniques to stimulate lymphatic flow and restore the system to proper function. Catherine Davidson is our MLD specialist, holding ITEC and FHT accreditations.

Lymphatic drainage is valuable for post-surgical recovery, oedema management, immune support and as part of a broader detoxification and skin health protocol.

Where Specialised Bodywork Fits

Our specialised treatments work well alongside the physical and holistic therapies at Hever Health. Many patients find that combining specialised bodywork with osteopathy or reflexology accelerates results that either therapy produces more slowly on its own.

For those new to the treatments we offer, our articles provide a useful foundation. What body stress release is and how it differs from other therapies explains a discipline that many patients arrive unfamiliar with. Cupping therapy: separating fact from fiction addresses the claims and the reality with equal clarity. What is the lymphatic system and why does it matter provides the background that makes the value of manual lymphatic drainage immediately apparent. And how essential oils work explains the physiology behind aromatherapy for those who want to understand the science before they experience the treatment.
