Registered Osteopath and Clinic Director

Paul Moody Osteopath at heverhealth.com

Paul Moody has been practising osteopathy for over 30 years. As Clinic Director at Hever Health, he brings a depth of clinical experience and a genuinely integrated view of health: one that considers the physical, mental and internal functions of the body as inseparable parts of the same whole.

His route to osteopathy is one of the more unusual you will encounter. After his A-Levels, Paul joined Devon and Cornwall Police, serving first as a beat officer, then as a coroner’s officer and later as a traffic officer. Eight and a half years in the force gave him a particular kind of human insight: an ability to meet people in difficult circumstances, to listen carefully and to think clearly under pressure. These are not qualities that leave you when you change careers. They inform every consultation Paul conducts today.

In 1987 he left the police and studied Osteopathy at the British School of Osteopathy in London, qualifying in 1991. He is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

Paul’s published writing explores the structural and lifestyle causes of the most common musculoskeletal presentations he works with. His articles on why back pain keeps coming back, desk work and the spine and headaches of cervical origin reflect the clinical thinking he brings to every assessment. For those new to osteopathy, his guide to what to expect from your first appointment answers the questions most patients arrive with. If you are weighing up your options, osteopathy vs physiotherapy explains the distinction clearly.

Paul is based at Hever Castle Golf Club, a club he has been a member of personally for many years, and is deeply committed to building a clinic that serves the whole community around it. His particular interest lies in the connections between physical health, mental wellbeing and internal physiological function: the understanding that what happens in one part of the body rarely stays there, and that lasting recovery requires more than treating the symptom in isolation.
