Sports Therapy at Hever Health

Sports Therapy at Hever Health

A sports injury is not just an inconvenience. It is a threat to the routine, the performance and the identity that keeping active gives you. Whether you are a competitive athlete, a committed amateur or someone who simply needs to stay moving to stay well, an untreated or poorly managed injury has a way of becoming a much bigger problem than it needed to be.

Sports therapy gives you the assessment, diagnosis and structured rehabilitation to recover fully, not partially, and return to activity with confidence.

Meet Connor Reid, Sports Therapist and Registered Osteopath

Connor Reid is a Registered Osteopath and sports massage specialist who graduated from the European School of Osteopathy with a Master’s degree in Osteopathy. His clinical training gives him a comprehensive understanding of injury mechanics that goes well beyond the scope of a standard sports massage practitioner. Connor assesses injury at the structural level, identifies contributing factors within posture and movement patterns, and builds a rehabilitation programme that addresses both the injury itself and the conditions that allowed it to occur.

Connor has a strong interest in sport, particularly rugby, and understands firsthand what athletic activity demands of the body and what genuine recovery requires. He is available at Hever Health on Wednesdays.

What Sports Therapy Covers

Connor works with the full spectrum of sports-related presentations, including muscle strains and tears, ligament sprains and joint instability, tendinopathy and repetitive strain injuries, running injuries including plantar fasciitis and IT band syndrome, shoulder, knee and ankle injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation and return-to-sport protocols, and performance-based maintenance for active individuals.

Sports therapy is not only for those who compete. If you run, cycle, swim, play golf or simply want to remain physically active as you get older, the assessment and maintenance approach that sports therapy provides is directly relevant to you.

Your Sports Therapy Pathway

Your first appointment begins with a comprehensive assessment: a detailed history of the injury, a movement and functional analysis, and hands-on evaluation of the affected tissues and surrounding structures. From this Connor designs your treatment and rehabilitation plan. You will always leave knowing exactly what is wrong, why it happened and what the recovery pathway looks like.

Follow-up sessions monitor your progress, adjust the programme as you improve and ensure you do not return to activity before your body is genuinely ready.

Sports Therapy and Osteopathy Together

Where a sports injury has a structural component, or where recurring injury suggests an underlying biomechanical issue, osteopathy provides the structural correction that complements the rehabilitation work. Connor delivers both, meaning your care is co-ordinated rather than fragmented.

For those trying to decide between sports massage and a full clinical assessment, the difference between sports massage and sports therapy explains which is appropriate for which situation. If you are managing an injury and wondering whether you are ready to return to training, why returning to sport too soon is the most common mistake after injury provides a clear clinical framework. Overuse injuries: why they happen and how to resolve them properly addresses one of the most common presentations in sports therapy practice. For those unsure whether their injury needs professional assessment, five signs your sports injury needs assessment provides a practical guide. And for golfers specifically, how sports therapy supports golfers at every level is written directly for you.
